Vicenza is traditionally a land
of good wines, due to its high quality production which has a great impact on the
local agricultural economy. In fact, the province of Vicenza alone produces more
wine than a whole region, nevertheless a prestigious one, that of Friuli. There is
nowadays a wide variety of prestigious wines in the province, on the trace of a wine
tradition, which dates back to 3000 years before the Christian Era. These wines are
classified according to the specific areas where they are produced ( DOC): Colli
Berici, Lessini Durello, Breganze, Gambellara and Vicenza. Alongside
a great wine tradition, Vicenza offers additional delicious specialities well-kown to Italian and international
gourmets: the popular "Baccalà", The "Grappa" of Bassano and the
cheese of Asiago, just to mention the most renowned.
