The Sanctuary of the “Madonna di Monte Berico” of Vicenza is the symbol of the religiosity par excellence and it rises in a hilly position from which the entire city and the surrounding valleys can be seen.  According to an ancient tradition, in a morning of 7 March 1426, Vincenza Pasini, an old lady, had a vision while was going to her husband.  A shining figure  said to her:  I am  Maria,  The Vergine, the Mother of Christ who died on the cross  for the salvation of humanity”.  “I ‘m asking you to go and say on my behalf  to Vicenza population to build a church on my honor in this site”.  So it was and since then the Sanctuary is a destination of pilgrimages and devotion.
